So Triggy turned one year old yesterday! We had a nice day together. He slept in for his mommy (YAY!) and after his morning nap, we went to a Mom's Club meetup at Sandy's house. We were celebrating lots of birthdays there, so we had cakes, candles, the whole thing. I need to get the pictures from the people that were taking pictures (I had my hands full with Trig) and I'll post them when I get them. He had his first bite of cake, which he enjoyed, but then when I gave him some icing he didn't like that! Trig had lots of fun and fell asleep in the car on the way home, then slept an additional 2 hours on top of that!!!
Then, later in the evening, it was clear that little Trig did not feel well. He had a little fever and maybe a little diarrhea, so we decided to skip the cake at home in favor of celebrating this weekend at his birthday party.
Triggy's Daddy and I reminisced about February 15th last year and looked at some videos of what he looked like when he was born (and even what Mommy looked like before Trig was born, YIKES!). After many hours of labor, he was finally born at 2:41pm on Sunday, February 15, 2009. (Note to future Mamas - try not to be in labor on Sundays - docs don't like to come in very quickly haha) He was so tiny but so beautiful all the same :)
Happy Birthday, Triggy. We love you!
Oh, and enjoy the new layout!

ALMOST 1!!!!
So Trig is ALMOST 1 year old now. He's less than a week away. I can't believe it. I think back to last year at this time and I had no idea I was near the time that Trig would be born. I remember watching the Superbowl (though I was much more interested in the commercials and the Puppy Bowl), just over 30 weeks pregnant, thinking, wow, I've made it to 30 weeks, maybe I will go full term? That didn't happen. But, it was very good that we did make it to 32 weeks.
So were do we stand at 1 year? Well, it looks like walking isn't going to happen by 1 year. Not that I expected it with him being born 2 months early. I'm happy where he's at, personally - trust me, he gets around VERY fast and I can't imagine what it will be like when he's walking around. He is, however, cruising around the place. He's just not all that interested in standing on his own. He thinks crawling and pulling up are way too much fun.
He's got just about 8 teeth - the one on the top right is coming in now. So he's got lots of chompers to eat food! Still, he'd rather drink his bottles and he's a bit of a picky eater (see previous post). He hates the confinement of the high chair though it is a necessary evil - if he weren't in the high chair, there would be food ALL over the house, no doubt. He is very messy when he eats. He likes to squeeze food between his hands to see what it feels like, throw it to see what Mommy and Daddy will do, hit an incoming spoon full of puree, etc. I will say, though, that if he sees Mommy and Daddy eating something, he will eat it. But he cannot be fooled if we're not really eating it. He's a smart little boy!
Well, his 1st birthday party is coming up on February 20th in San Antonio. Those of you that can, we hope you come! It's going to be a blast. We just want to do something to celebrate this little man's first year of life.
More to come from his birthday!

Trig's favorite and least favorite foods
So in an effort to keep up this blog much better, I am participating in a "Blog Hop". All you need to know is that a local friend of mine gives us all a specific theme to post on each week and we do it!
This week? Baby's favorite and least favorite foods.
Trig's favorite foods: well, he LOVES his morning yogurt (Yo Baby). He also cannot possibly eat enough puffs. I think he thinks that he could sustain himself on puffs alone. We recently introduced mini-pancakes and he loves those so much that he shoves the whole things in his mouth. Favorite veggie is most certainly Squash. Silly boy!
Trig's least favorite foods: Ugh, Trig can be a picky eater, sometimes you can never tell what he's going to like and not like. He's still not a big fan of anything with meat in it, though he'll eat it if it's mixed with a favorite fruit/veggie of his like squash. I think that the things he doesn't like are all about the consistency of the food rather than the food itself. For example, he LOVES freeze-dried peas but hates the pureed peas.
Basically, now that he's almost a year old, he likes to feed himself and doesn't like mommy or daddy to feed him anymore. He tolerates his morning yogurt feeding but as the day wears on he tolerates me feeding him less and less and he'd rather just feed himself. So, we give him an assortment of freeze dried fruits and veggies (they're easy for him to pick up and resemble puffs to him), puffs, peaches, sliced oranges, black beans, carrots, and the list goes on. Also, if I happened to cook (which I am trying to be better about) he gets some of our dinner, well, at least the parts he can eat.
He really is getting less and less picky and is better and better about being able to pick up his own food. At first, it was really frustrating when he decided to only feed himself because there weren't many things that he could easily pick up and feed to himself without getting very frustrated. Now he can pick up more things so we can give him a more healthy variety.
Basically, I've decided that it's way easier when they eat nothing but bottles. Now I have to prepare food AND bottles! Oh well, my little boy is growing up, that's what happens! :)

Trig 11 months
Enjoy some pictures of Trig - he's 11 months old now! I think he weighs about 17lbs or more, he has 5 teeth and I think about 3 more coming in (he won't let me look!). He's cruising all over the place and I can hardly keep up with him! His favorite thing is to stand at the coffee table and play with whatever is on it. So Mommy has to make sure that the things on the table are Triggy-friendly.

Welcome back to Ohio!
It's been a busy time in the King family - we had Christmas and all of the craziness that includes, and after Christmas, we packed all of our stuff up to move back to Ohio! Baker left with my car and a trailer full of our stuff on January 1 and Trig and I followed on January 5th by flying into Cleveland. Flying went surprisingly well! Trig was a good boy and we made it just fine, despite the snow and bad weather! We'll be here at our new place in Akron, OH until Baker graduates in May. It's been EXTREMELY snowy so far, but we'll make it through! :)
Enjoy some recent pictures!

Almost Christmas for Trig!
So it's ALMOST Trig's first Christmas! Things have been busy at the King household getting things ready. Decorations are officially in full swing here and we're ready for Christmas. Lots of presents under the tree and all of that! We're trying to get Trig excited and tell him all about Christmas but I don't think that there is much that he understands yet. Still, there is lots under the tree with his name on it!
He got his 2nd round of flu shot and H1N1 shot so we're good in that department. We discovered at that appointment that he weighs 16 lbs 2 oz.... so still really small but we're getting there. We recently changed formulas (since I just ran out of breastmilk) and he is doing really well on the new stuff. Hopefully, it will inspire a growth spurt.
He officially has 4 teeth - 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. AND he is now 10 months 1 week old. Wow, huh?
Enjoy some videos!!!

4th tooth and laughing at Charlie...
Trig is getting his 4th tooth, his left top tooth is just now popping through! He's got this habit of rubbing his top teeth on his bottom teeth and it makes this awful squeaking sound!
Enjoy some video of Trig laughing at Jenny and Zack's dog, Charlie :) We had a nice visit to Houston and got to see beautiful Bekah and the wonderful Mrs. Burkhart. We missed you this time, Zack!
Had a nice time visiting the Maddock Grandparents and Baker had his UT Houston interviews. Check it out!
